Base rate frozen

The Bank of England have decided for the second time not to increase the base rate, in a move that will almost certainly impact on debt management companies up and down the UK.

It was expected that if interest rates were once again risen, debt management companies would experience a mass influx of inquiries and requests for help.

Despite the news, one leading financial expert has commented that a second hike in the base rate for 2007 will almost certainly come. He commented: "The exact timing of the anticipated interest rate hike is likely to depend critically on the strength of economic activity and inflation data over the next few weeks as well as wage developments."
