The official number of people who declared themselves bankrupt in the final quarter of 2006 has been released, with few surprises about the high number.
According to the Insolvency Service, 17,063 people opted for bankruptcy in the fourth quarter, added to the 12,741 who entered into an Individual Voluntary Arrangement (IVA).
A spokesman for the group commented: "You could more than fill the new Wembley Stadium with those who have formally become insolvent in 2006."
