An alternate spin on debt

The BBC have quashed findings by financial analysts that claim the UK now boasts over £1 trillion of personal debt, with problems set to only get worse.

Despite the figures having significant grounding, the BBC claim that the large numbers bounded around are a result of debt management companies sensationalising the information.

A spokesperson for the BBC commented: "Debt is basically fine. In fact, we're coining it in the UK, with more wealth stretching ever further ahead of the amount we owe. The people in trouble - who do exist - are a tiny minority accounting for a vanishingly small part of the trillion."
